Goat Milk Soap

Ingredients:

1 lb 4 oz Frozen Goat Milk

6.6 oz Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)

12 oz Olive Oil

10 oz Coconut Oil

1 lb Palm Oil

10 oz Shea Butter

3 oz Fragrance

Tools:

Eye protection

Rubber gloves

Long sleeve shirt

Measuring scale

Large glass bowl for oils

Large glass bowl for frozen milk

Medium glass measuring cup for lye.

Spoon for lye

Small glass measuring cup for fragrance

Stick blender

Spatulas for stirring

Soap loaf or soap molds

99% rubbing alcohol in spray bottle

Plastic wrap

Instructions:

  1. Put on rubber gloves, eye protection and a long sleeve shirt.

  2. Measure out olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil and warm until all oils are melted.

  3. Add Shea butter to other oils and stir until melted. If needed, warm in the microwave on lowest setting until Shea butter has melted, being careful not to over heat. You don’t want your oils to be to hot. Set oils aside for a bit.

  4. Measure out your frozen milk in a separate bowl.

  5. Measure out your lye in a glass measuring bowl.

  6. Slowly add a tablespoon of lye at a time to your frozen milk, stirring constantly until all lye is added and dissolved in milk. (Be careful not to add too much lye at one time you don’t want to over heat the milk. It should stay a nice bright color.)

  7. Next measure out your fragrance in a separate small glass measuring cup.

  8. Once all lye has been dissolved in milk add milk mixture into your oils and blend with a stick blender until mixture starts to trace (where you can lift up your spatula and it leaves a small trace on top of the soap.)

  9. Next add your fragrance to your soap and mix in by hand.

  10. Pour soap into soap mold and scrape bowl clean.

  11. Let sit for a few minutes then spritz with rubbing alcohol and cover with plastic rap this will help prevent soda ash on top of the soap.

  12. Let soap sit for 2 days.

  13. Wipe out all leftover soap from bowls and off spatulas with paper towels and then wash dishes thoroughly by hand.

  14. Once soap has set(a couple of days later) freeze soap for half an hour or so in the freezer then un-mold and cut soap in bars.

  15. Let soap bars cure for 4 to 6 weeks before using.

Bath Bombs
              • 1 cup baking soda
              • 1/4 cup cream of tartar
              • 1/2 cup cornstarch
              • 1/2 cup Epsom salt
              • 2 tsp essential oil
              • 2 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
              • 1-2 drops food coloring (optional)
              • Silicone mold
              • 1 tbsp water (as needed)
Combine dry ingredients

In a glass bowl, combine baking soda, cream of tartar, cornstarch, and Epsom salt.
Mix together thoroughly with a whisk.
You really need to make sure that everything is combined properly.
For this step, you don't want to use a plastic bowl.
Some experts think that the plastic can mess with the wet ingredients.
Fair warning: bath bombs are really finicky.
This means you can't just toss ingredients into a bowl, you need to be as precise as possible.

Combine wet ingredients

In a smaller separate bowl, combine the coconut oil, food coloring, and essential oils.
Whisk them all together.
You might notice after mixing that the food coloring isn't completely
blended into the oils, if that's the case, don't worry just do your best.

Combine wet with dry ingredients

Drizzle the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients slowly while mixing constantly.
You don't want to dump the wet ingredients in too quickly,
as that could start the fizzy chemical reaction.
Mix thoroughly until there are no big lumps and the mixture is similar to damp sand.
If you grab it with your hand and squeeze the mix should hold its shape.

Press into molds

When working with molds,
Really push down hard so you're packing the bath bomb mixture into each mold—
this will help keep them together.

Remove from molds

Pop the mold into the fridge for a few hours to help set them.
Once they seem pretty dried out and solid, remove the bath bombs from the mold and let them sit overnight to finish drying out.
